As an NBA legend, he is a member of the Retired Players Association.  Phil comments:   “During my years as a professional player in the NBA, I don't think I totally appreciated the many teamates and adversaries and many life experiences shared.  Whether on the road with the Wizards, at our annual retired meetings, or other outings, it is such a joy now to interact and reflect back on those playing days…. the battles and exciting games played.  Equally entertaining is to engage with pro-players of other sports and compare experiences….usually finding common bonds.”

In his spare time, Phil enjoys playing cards & board games (favorites are dominoes & pinnocle).  He has also been an avid (not necessarily good) golfer. During the off-season, if he’s not playing in a celebrity golf tournament, he’s out with friends on the course.
